NSERC CGS M

Available to students in their fourth year of an eligible undergraduate program (and to first year graduate students) who intend to pursue in the following year full-time graduate studies at the masters or doctoral level in one of the areas of the Natural Sciences or Engineering.   Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.  Information and application forms (FORM 201) can be found on the NSERC website at: www.nserc.ca and specifically http://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/Students-Etudiants/PG-CS/CGSM-BESCM_eng.asp

Requirements: GPA of at least 3.5 in each of the last two completed years of study.

Value: $17,500 (for one year).

NSERC Summer Studentship (USRA)

Available to students registered full-time in an eligible academic program leading to a bachelor's degree with a major or honors concentration in one of the Natural Sciences or in Engineering. Student must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and have completed all the course requirements of at least the first year of university study (or two academic terms) of her/her bachelor's degree at the time they hold the award.  Information and application forms (FORM 202) can be found on the NSERC web site at: http://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/index_eng.asp 

Requirements: GPA of at least 3.0 in their program up to the time of application.

Value: at least $1,406.25/month (for 4 months)

AIHS Summer Studentships

Available to undergraduate students with an exceptional academic record who wish to participate in summer research in a medical or health-related field. (Students who are currently in the last term of their undergraduate degrees must have applied either to Medical School or to a graduate program that would start in the coming Fall).  Detailed information regarding selection criteria and forms for the Undergraduate Summer Studentship can be found on the AIHS website at: http://www.aihealthsolutions.ca/grants/Sum-student.php

Value : Approximately $1,300/month (the award is tenable for a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 4 months during period May to August)

University of Alberta Science Undergraduate Society Leadership Scholarship

Conditions: To be awarded annually to a student with superior academic achievement enrolled in the second, third, or fourth year of an undergraduate degree program in the Faculty of Science at the University of Alberta. Recipient will be selected on the basis of demonstrated involvement in extracurricular and community activities and academic standing. Preference will be given to a student who has volunteered with the University of Alberta Science Undergraduate Society.
